Idling Speed

guys..

currently my idling speed is reasonably high due to engine always like choking in the morning.. hence tweak the idling higher everytime start bike..

i would like to noe if a high idling speed will affect the bike in any way.

eg: fuel consumption and/or anything else?

Plus low and if you prolong idling will generate carbon deposit more than high short idling.

Why not try adjusting the pilot screw? mine set at 1-5/8 turn out. Because if hard starting then pilot mixture is on the lean side.

I notice liquid cooled engine takes longer time to warm up in the morning than air cooled, that's why you need to choke somehow to sustain idling.

my two cents

Slightly higher FC only. Better then too low an idling. Will cause pings if set too low. Cheers
yup!

stroker ur right!

my FC is high lately since i turned the idling screw.

datz why i'm worried.

so it does affect my bike, FC wise.

at least now its good to noe..

thanx bro!

ok. this is a bit weird..

i'v recorded 40km/l for my fuel consumption the last time.

i mean therez no way i can achieve that with a high idling speed.

during the first few weeks of riding it, i'd recorded ard 35km/l.

hmm? anyway i'm a happy man! haha

Woops..! your ride gaz consumption is extremely low, amazing Bro..!
Because mine (3 months old) runs for only 35 to 40 km/litre.
Then I think it is compulsory for u 2 share ur setting to us here. Agree..? :) :)
Cheers..!

don't know much about setting..all the guys at Yamaha Service Centre did it..tried three different places..FC never change...i use Pertamax now (RON 92) can go at least 45km/l..
when it was new..i use Pertamax plus (RON 95) and add octane booster pils, can go at least 65km/l..but over it...too hard to find pertamax plus coz not all gas station sell pertamax plus here...
maybe it's because the way i ride it..i short shift it all the time..never let it rev up too high...oh yeah and i always and always check my air preassure...maybe that's why i got good FC

Well ..!
Think is not the setting, isn't it?
It is about being scrupulous and cautious in living with the ride.
Afraid i won't be that good as you are. But I will see if I could give myself a shoot...
Thx.

to low idle speed cause not enuff coolant circulated coz not enuff power for the pump..need sufficient rpm for a good oil flow when idle :D:D:D

kamalez

The reduction gear at pump will take care of the idle speed, but of course if the idle speed is very low then, it will be insufficient flow!

Yup..! again you are right guys, some friends in the club said so, to low idle speed cause insufficient oil circulation.
Means that many people do wasting machine warm up.
